My kid's Funnys...
So I have not been a good blogger since summer. I am hoping to get better and catch up, but there are a few things that the kids have said that I don't want to forget. So thought I would go ahead and get them down.....
A few months ago I had listened to a Focus on the Family which was about talking to your kids about sex. It talked about how you should start at a young age introducing little facts and such. Well it dawned on me that my kids had no idea what the correct name for their private parts is. So I was talking one evening with Maggie about it and asking her if she knew the names....she told me yes butt, boobies and her pee pee. I than informed her the correct name for her pee pee and she gave a nasty face and said, "that is so ugly sounding" I sort of laughed and told her it was what it was. She than asked me what a boy's private part was called and so I told her. As soon as I did she says, "Oh man, no fair! That one is soooo much better!" hahahahaha
Owen walks in and asks what we are talking about so I begin the convo with him. He informs me that yes he knows what it is called. I asked him what and he says "a crouch." (as in to squat down) I sort of chuckled and asked him where he heard that and he told me a friend in his class told him. I explained to him that the boy was wrong and told him the right names and he says, "nope, I have never heard that word." To which Mag replies..."well I like your name better than mine!" Too funny.
Another story....
My kids are pretty up on the election (which has now passed) and the views of both sides and such. Last month in church he was brought up on stage to play the part of Timothy from the Bible. (Owen apparently gets called up to do things as he loves being in front of a crowd) Well the teach didn't think Owen knew anything about Timothy since that is who they were just learning about that day....but Owen somehow already knew all about him. (I am assuming probably from school....because I have to be honest I didn't know anything about him before this happened) Well Timothy was taught about God from his mother and grandmother. His father was a "non christian".....I am thinking I have that all correct...anyhow, as the teachher is asking Owen all about himself (Timothy) Owen is answering all the questions right. He asks him who taught him about God, Owen says, "My mom and grandma". He asks him if his dad taught him about God at all. Owen says, "no." The teacher asks him some other questions and thans asks Owen if his father was a folloer of God, or a christian. Owen says, "No. " The teacher asks him what his father was than. (thinking Owen would say a gentile or something along those lines. Owen gets a little smile on his face and says, "He was a Democrat." He got lots of laughs since there were lots of adults in the room. Owen was happy with the end result althought I am pretty sure he had no idea just how funny it really was.
......I had Josie at Chick fil A a while ago and she was playing in the playarea. She comes running out after awhile and says, "Mommy MOmmy!!! I made some new friends." (the store was pretty crowded as it was lunch time) I told her that was great but to get her shoes it was time to go. She then says, in the loudest voice ever..."And mommy, you won't believe it but they were brown people!!! Really!!" I could have died right there but I just sort of smiled at her and said quietly, "okay Josie don't say that anymore okay." Well it backfired on me becuase she says even louder, "No mommy, I promise they were brown, really I mean it!" I told her to be quiet and she says, "mommy they were brown!! come here and I will show you!" At that point I grabbed the baby, grabbed her hand and headed for the door. Especially when I realized the girl's mom was sitting next to us! Oh Josie. :)
.......I just realized this week that when Josie refers to people as "skinny" (which she does quite often and just thought she really meant she thought they were skinny) What she really means is that they are a white person.....so they have skin color....meaking them skinny. LOL. Makes enough sense I suppose.
So you see.....life is very funny around here!!
