Maggie and the beanstalk

About 2 weeks ago Maggie planted a green bean seed at preschool and came home with it a few days later. At that point it was still under the soil. Within the past week everytime I look at this thing it seems it has grown. I told Joe to move it out back to his garden, but he says it's growing better in the cup than his things are in the ground.

This past weekend was busy, I worked Saturday morning while Joe and the kids caught up from him being gone for the week. As soon as I got home I got Maggie and Josie ready and we headed to a birthday party of one of Maggie's friends from school. There were lots of kids from her class so she had alot of fun. That evening Joe took the kids to the park and I went to bed EARLY. I was alseep when they got home but it looks like they had fun.










Joe was up early Sunday since he had another out of town trip, this time to southern texas. He is coming home tonight and then we are all headed to WV tommorow for the night. Joe has to go to Ashland to work so the kids and I are going to visit with mom and dad for the night. Josie has been a little sick the past few days with cough and cold that she got from Maggie who got it from Owen. I am hoping she gets to feeling better soon so she isn't sick this weekend as we are going to Kings Island. She is really into her feet now which I think is so cute. Everytime she lays down up go her feet into her hands.






Owen was playing the other day with his superheros and I hear him say, " No venom, you can't do that because I am spiderman and Jesus loves me." From there he proceeds to sing Jesus loves me in his spiderman voice( i am guess it is to venom) This scenerio happened between spiderman and several other villians while he played, so I guess in Owen's eyes spiderman is a christian. :)

Last day of preschool

Today was Maggie's last day of preschool and we had a field trip to the FAC swimming pool. Here she is with her teacher, Mrs. Boyd. The field trip was supposed to be at the game farm but it rained so the plans were changed, which Maggie was thrilled about. We met up there at 9 30 and stayed until after 12 so they had a good amount of time to swim. Owen enjoyed it as well and loves playing with all Maggie's preschool friends. The only problem I had with Owen was getting him to keep his swimming trunks on, I guess skinny dipping is going to be his favorite way to enjoy the water. haha

Josie was held by everyone and seemed to enjoy getting so much attention. I enjoyed having the extra help so I could keep up with Owen, who informed me he could swim....and kept venturing toward the deep end. I never had to go in and rescue him thankfully, everytime he'd head that way the water would get up to his mouth/nose and he would realize it wasn't a good idea.
So we had a fun morning, thankfully Maggie was better yesterday evening so she felt like going. I am sure we will see alot of her friends this summer since the pool seems to be all the mom's summer plans!
Joe called today, he's been out of town this week and was supposed to get home tommorow night but is coming home tonight instead so we are all excited to see him this evening.

Our favorite days..

Maggie has come down with the virus Owen had last week, just a fever and cough but she is feeling pretty bad so we got to have one of our favorite kind of days....a pj day. It is rainy outside so that makes it an even better pj day. Maggie has pretty much laid in my bed watching TV or in the front room watching TV and eating popsicles. Owen has been my shadow today...even more than usual. He has been in a pretty happy mood today and has been pretty funny so he's kept me entertained. Josie is her usual happy self and has laid around just talking and smiling at whoever walks by her. She blew out her diaper this morning so I stripped her down and got her cleaned up. Owen stood there watching and said, "mom, that is disgusting!!!" I told him it wasn't nearly as disgusting as his diapers! We played with her in the floor for awhile and Owen loved getting her to laugh at him. She loves being in the floor and acts like she's going to roll over sometimes....although I am not holding my breath for that since it would be about 4 months earlier than my other two! Yeserday was Maggie's beach day at school so they got to wear swim suits and take beach things. She looked adorable in her suit and had alot of fun. We went to the park with 2 of her friends, Isaac and Landon, afterwards. I could tell she was not feeling well when she opted to lay on the blanket with the moms instead of play. I am hoping this virus wears off by tommorow as it's her last day of preschool...a field trip and she is really wanting to go. When we were at the park yesterday she had on a shirt that said little girls are made of sugar, spice, and everything nice. She asked me what it said and I told her and she followed of course with, "what does that mean?" I told her it meant she was nice and sweet. Her friend Isaac chimed in, " and cute!". She just smiled at him and said, "your so nice Isaac." I thought it was so cute. She told me the other day she wasn't sure if she was going to marry Issac or Owen. I told her she had along time to figure that out...and if she still is saying that in a few years we will have a talk about who you can and can't marry. haha.

All my kids are asleep right now. Maggie passed out in my bed about an hour ago. I was putting Owen down for his nap and when I came back downstaris Josie had decided it was her naptime too and I was taking too long so she just put herself to sleep in the floor.












She sticks with the program even when I don't! Well, I am not doing much else today. We are planning to go to Kings Island memorial day weekend with friends so I am trying to get all that planned out. I hope it's good weather!

Happy Mothers Day!

We had a very fun mothers day weekend. Friday night we went out with our friends Shannon and Preston and their girls to a japanese steak house. The kids had fun and the food was delicious. Saturday we didn't do much. Joe worked outside most of the day and I just got things done inside while the kids went back and forth. We decided to have a cookout and bonfire that night so Shannon and Preston and their girls and Nick Neila and Carson came over and cooked hot dogs and smores with us. The kids all ran wild most of the evening and had so much fun. Maggie enjoyed roasting the marshmallows....although she wasn't about to eat one!















Sunday morning we got up and headed to church. The kids came in and brought me my mothers day cards and a total surprise.....a day at the spa gift certificate, complete with a one hour facial, one hour massage, pedicure and manicure. How wonderful of a husband do I have! I was so surprised, and he hadn't even read my last blog. :) Now I just need to get it scheduled and not put it off for months like I did last time. Maggie looked really cute for church and loved showing off her new dress.

After church we came home and let the kids nap, and I napped as well. I haven't taken a long nap for along time and it felt so great. When we were all up we headed to Louisville for dinner. We were heading to the cheesecake factory but the 2 hour wait sent us settling for California Pizza Kitchen. It was really rainy and cold so we went to a few stores and back home for bedtime. I had a great day and am so thankful for my 3 wonderful kids that I get to be mommy to.
And being mothers day I also am thankful for my mom. I have one of the best moms ever. I can honestly say I never get tired of spending time with her. I don't think we have ever had a "mother daughter" spat (at least not since I was a teenager). I always enjoy spending time with her and I pray that someday when my kids are grown that they feel about me the way I feel about her. I love you so much mom!


Monday I got to see mom, Amanda and Dad as they were heading back from Atlanta where Amanda has been in a show. We met up in Lexington for several hours and got to visit. The kids were so happy to see them. Amanda of course went into the kidzone and played with them, which they loved. Amanda also had fun playing with Josie and getting her to talk and smile.














Josie showed Amanda how much she loved her by puking right down her shirt which was quite funny....and if you know my sister it's even funnier.
Maggie was quite the MiMi girl that day and was not happy that mimi was not coming home with us nor was she going to her house. Anyhow, we had a really fun visit with them, and I got some cute pictures that day.





















Last week Neila Susan kept the kids for me and brought Owen spiderman stickers. Later that day I was in the other room and he yelled at me to come see something. When I got in the room he says, "Look what I did for you mommy, do you love it?" It was so cute because I really think he thought I loved his spiderman stickers on my couch as much as he did.

A little more...

So my last blog was short and sweet so I thought I would blog a little more while everyone is sleeping. First of all I am proud to say I have not had a coke or sweet tea since last Thursday! As you saw on my sis's blog her secret indulgence is mcdonalds cheeseburgers and fries (which I must say pleased me very much Amanda!). Well, McDonalds in general (especially the fries and coke) are my NOT so secret indulgence! So I began dieting and working out a week ago and have already dropped 4 pounds so that is motivation to keep it up! Anyhow, I knew my mom and sis would be happy to hear of my new eating habits. :)

As for Owen and his bed climbing skills....which as I mentioned are pretty impressive. I about died the first night he did it and showed up in our room...Joe took him back up to bed and I hear them talking...I am thinking Joe is giving him a lecture about not getting out of his bed. Nope, Joe was so impressed with how fast and quietly he got out he was having him show him exactly how he does it! So I went up to be the "bad guy" and show him that this was NOT going to fly with me, especually since I am the one who has to have his naptime go smoothly...for my sanity! After a few incidences he finally figured out he was not winning and for the most part he has stayed in. Naps are not a problem at all Thank Jesus!

For those who know the Growing Kids God's Way class, that is what we have done with our kids and I believe is the main reason they are such great sleepers. Well, by Josie's age the other two were totally with the eat, play, sleep schedule. They ALWAYS napped in their beds and were only rocked to sleep occasionly. Josis has gotten lucky for her first 2 months of life, being the 3rd she doens't have the luxery of being home for all her "scheduled naps." So she naps whereever she will whenever she feels like it for the most part. Eating is about the same way...if I have 10 minutes than she nurses....because it may be another hour or two before I can sit down and feed her! Well, a few weeks ago I decided it was time to "ezzo" her to make life a little more structured for her. She has done awesome, I never drempt she'd go right to sleep in her crib for naps since she has usually been napping in her swing, carseat, or my arms! But she seems to like it much better up there. (No wonder since it's much quieter!) She was sleeping all night but this week has began waking once so I am hoping she gets over that soon, but all in all it has been an easy switch.

Owen has been sick this week with a high fever and no other symptoms. I am guessing he just caught a virus as he seems to be much better today, other than still very grumpy! Monday he cried for about 30 minutes when he woke up becasue, as he put it, "he wanted it to be dark outside." I am guessing this meant he was tired and still wanted it to be night so he could sleep. I tried explaining to him that it was day and there was nothing I could do to make the sun go away, but he was not happy with that answer and continued with his screaming. I finally told him his best bet was to ask Jesus to make the sun go away but that everyone else in the world would probably be a little freaked out and left him to think that one over.


We went yesterday to a place called All About Kids which was so fun. It is a huge gym with lots of gymnastics things for kids to do, along with bouncers, trampline floors, and huge pits with foam blocks they can swing/jump into. We went with Maggie's friend Isaac and his mom and had a blast. I wish I had known about it this winter as it would have been a great place to let the kids get their energy out.

Debbie and Larry came up this past weekend to see the kids. We just hung out at home pretty much but the kids had fun having all the attention and I worked Saturday morning so Joe had some extra help with the kids. Next week is Maggie's last week of preschool. I can't beleive how fast this year has gone. I am so glad she has a late birthday and I get another year with her at home before she starts Kindergarten. Well, that is about all going on here in Shelbyville. No big plans for the weekend.....unless Joe remembers it's mothers day and has a big surprise planned for me like a day at the spa! :)
