Sunshine, Sesame Street, and Swimming!!!

We have had such a fun week and have enjoyed the gorgeous days that we were able to spend outside. Last Saturday was sooo nice so Joe went out to cut the grass. Owen is always one step behind Joe whatever he's doing so I look out and here is Owen mowing right behind him.

Sunday afternoon Neila-Susan and I packed the kids up and went into Louisville to take the kids to see Sesame Street Live. I wasn't sure about taking Josie as I thought she'd either LOVE it or be horrible the whole time. But I told Joe I was going to chance it and take her with me. Well turns out it was the right choice becasue she loved it. She sat the entire time just boucning her head to the music and clapping her hands. Maggie, Owen, and Carson also really enjoyed it and sang and danced the whole time. Maggie hadn't been so sure about going at first. She told me she didn't really like Sesame Street. I told her a friend of mine had taken her little girl adn she really liked it. Well, about 15 minutes into the show Maggie looked at me and said, "Mom, your friend was right. This is great!!"

The kids had their easter parties at preschool this week and I totally forgot my camera card in my camera for Owen's party so I am at the mercy of my friends to email the pictures from that day. I remembered the card for Maggie's party the next day so I got some pictures of her egg hunting and singing.

I had friends keep Josie and which ever kids party day it was not so I could go to Maggie/Owen's party with just them and spend some time together. I am so glad I can do that as I think they both really enjoy just having me to themselves even if just for 1 hour. I made bunny cookies for Maggie's party which were really cute, I didn't make enough for maggie and Owen to get to eat or decorate so that is on our agenda for this spring break week. Cookie making, easter egg dying and egg hunts!! Mom and Dad are headed down Thursday for a few days so we have that to look forward to as well!!

Friday after Maggie's party we headed to the mall to get the kids Easter pictures taken. They turned out really cute so keep watch in your mail this week! We went to visit the easter bunny and all the kids loved that, even Josie. She kept looking at him then would look at me and crack up.

We went to the park a few days this week as well which is alot of fun. Yesterday we went to our friend Bella's birthday party at the swimming pool and the kids had a blast.

They all love the water and Josie joins right in. I am so glad because my kids don't have much of a choice as to love the pool since that is where we live all summer!! Joe got in with Josie and she was happy as can be until you tried to take her out. Maggie can touch all over the kiddie pool this year so she thought that was cool.

Owen had fun and tried to take Josie for a ride around the pool too!

Maggie and Kylie have the same suit this year so they were excited about that.

Here are the kids during break time.

After getting home from the party we got dressed and headed to Lexington for the afternoon. Joe took the kids to see the movie Bolt and I headed to Hamburg for my favorite pastime.....shopping. I cannot begin to tell you my excitement when I saw they now have a Carter's store there!!! My Lexington friends....how have you held out on my about this??? Anyhow, we first went to eat at Donatos before the movie and as Joe got Josie out of the seat we saw that we were goign to have a problem. She had totally blown out her diaper all over her white outfit. So Joe being the McGuiver he is fixed her up a white toga by using his T-shirt he had on under his shirt. She covered that in pizza sauce and than she and I headed to get her a new outfit to wear while they watched a movie. I had about 3 good hours there which was great and Josie is an excellent shopper. She had not napped all day aside from an hour that morning so between swimming and shopping she was worn out on the ride home.

Today Joe got started on a very exciting project at our house........the kids swingset!!! He cut down some trees out back to clear out a big area in the wooded area for the set to go. He was quite impressive back there lookin like Paul Bunyon with a chainsaw and dragging huge trees around and did a great job. Now we just need to get it leveled this week if the weather will cooperate and then comes the swingset. The kids are very excited as am I since we can have swings and slides here and not have to go anywhere. This will be especially great when they are up but Josie is napping!!

Josie is quite the character around here and I have to admit very much a daddy's girl. I told Joe she is our first kid at 13 months that likes him better than me!! She loves me but the second she hears Joe's voice she starts saying daaaad daaaad and looking for him. And if he is on the room my chances of her staying with me are slim. She is as rotten....and probably a bit spoiled....and voices her opinion quite clearly already! And girl LOVES to eat. I couldn't find her today but could hear her and I walk in the kitchen and she was up IN the cabinet where we keep cereal. How funny!

This is the kids spring break week so we will have lots of fun with all our friends I am sure. We also are getting ready for our big trip to Disney World in a few weeks which I am probably as excited about as the kids. We are flying out the 24th and come back on May 2nd. Mom and Dad are meeting us there so we are sure to have a great time. I already have our weeks agenda planned out and a few special meals with cinderella, mickey and playhouse disney set up so it should be a blast. Well, that is the excitement here in the Burke house!

One last note.......I have been having a horrible time with Owen keeping his room picked up latley. I have done everything from punish him to leaving it messy to gathering up everything on the floor and putting it into a garbage bag and taking it out. (No, I did not really throw it all away but he didn't know that) Anyhow, I picked up today and arragned his clothes for spring and tonight when we got home went up to find that sometime today his room had gotten totally torn up again. I was furious and so Joe took him up and showed him his room and asked Owen if he had done it and why. Owen's response was "I think maybe a robber got in my room." Hmmmm.....

Ready for Spring!!

The kids and I are soooo ready for spring! Joe has been out of town this week so we have spent alot of time at the park and outside to have everyone nice and ready for bedtime at about 7. Today we went to get some pictures of the kids taken and to the mall. These are not their Easter pictures, just fun pictures. As you can tell...i could have had a really cute shot of the 3 of them if ONE of my children had decided to smile normally. Guess who that kid was! Anyhow, that is my Owen..... The girls both had really cute ones. Enjoy!!

Happy St. Patricks Day!!

We had a very fun St. Patricks Day and made the most of the 70 degree weather as you never know when it is going to disappear. Poor Maggie is sick with some sort of stomach bug/fever and has been since Sunday so she wasn't in the best of spirits most of the day.

We went to the park after getting Owen from preschool and met up with some friends. Maggie was still running a fever but said she felt like going and she played some. I think it was good for her to get some fresh air.
Josie had fun swinging with her buddy Molly.

She kept cracking up. I can't wait until we get our swingset for the kids, she will really enjoy the swings I think.

Owen had a blast and it was a much needed trip for him as he has been stuck inside several days since Maggie has been sick and has had LOTS of energy built up.

I attempted to get a good pic of the 3 of them in their green today, but Maggie was just not up to the photo op which NEVER happens so I knew it was time to get home and she must not be feeling good. Here is the best I got of them.

Nothing big going on tommorow other than library time and hopefully Maggie can go back to preschool if she is feeling better.
Here are some more pics of today.

And here is Josie this morning. I walked in the room and found her like this watching Regis and Kelly.

When they clapped on the showe she would jump up and get excited and say "yeahhhh."

She is soooo cute, and quite the pistol. She has gotten to know the word NO quite well and falls apart when you say it to her. Either with hurt feelings (when Joe says it) or totally mad (when Maggie or I tell her). Ahhh, such the baby.

Welcome baby Jackson

Neila-Susan had her baby boy this past Wednesday. His name is Jackson Grant and he is absolutley adorable. We went up Wednesday and took Carson to meet his new baby brother. Both mom and baby are doing great and came home today so we have another one to join our group of crazy, but fun, kids. :)

In other news, Owen took a major face plant yesterday right into the concrete. He and Maggie were outside racing and he fell flat on his face and busted his lip, and busted up his face pretty good as well. The good news is he won the race. :) The bad news is I hadn't gotten easter pics yet so I am hoping he heals quickly. He really does look awful.

We went out today to look for the kids a swingset and shop a little. It seems like it's been forever that we had a Saturday to just spend the day together so it was really nice. We headed out at lunch time and Joe took the kids in Chuck E Cheese to play some games while I went to Target. After that we grabbed some lunch and went to Coldstone for some ice cream.
Then it was off to look at swingsets and then to the mall. The kids had fun (obviously since the day was basically about them having fun) and we met up with our friends Jeff, Shelia, and their kids for dinner and dessert. Josie didn't nap all day and did great to be so sleep deprived. She has gotten into throwing her pacifier (or anything else in her hand) down and saying "uh-oh" all the time so her poor paci hit the mall floor so many times I sure hope her immunity is up right now!

We are all better from our visit from the flu thankfully. Nothing big going on this week other than getting things ready for our big "rekid sale" me and a few other friends are doing in a few weeks. I have ALOT of work to do to get ready for it so I am hoping to make some progress this week.

Our last bit of news is HUGE and very exciting. We were driving in the car this week adn Maggie said, "Mommy, what did you tell me you have to say to ask Jesus in your heart?" I told her that you have to tell Jesus you have sinned and done bad things and that you are sorry and ask Him to forgive you. And then you have to ask Him to live in your heart and help you to be good and act in a way that would make Him happy. And then you tell others about Jesus.
I could see her back in her carseat just talking to herself so in a bit she says, "mommy, ya know those things you told me you have to say, I said them!" I said, "you did maggie???? that is wonderful." She says, "so what does that mean I am now Mommy?" and I told her it meant she was a christian. She said, " what is a christian?"" So I explained to her what it was and told her how great it was that she now had Jesus in her heart. She then turend to Owen and asked him why he didnt want to be a Christian. :) I told her Owen could do it when he was ready, just like her. Anyhow, I know at the age of 5 she doens't grasp all she said, but I am thrilled that she has the desire already in her heart.

The Flu strikes

The Flu has struck the Burke house. So far it is just me, which I am thankful for. I am pretty much positive I got it from working at the Peds office. I worked this past Saturday and saw 12 positive flu cases in the 4 hours I was there. And 2 of the kids sneezed or coughed right in my face. So that is probably my culprit. And for all wondering, No...I didn't get a flu shot. But of the 12 kids with flu I saw they had all gotten the flu shot so I am not feeling it would have been of any help to me anyhow! I am feeling much better today, yesterday was absolutly horrible. I have never had the flu before. Yesterday was the first time ever that I have had to call Joe at work to come home, but I knew there was no way I could take care of the kids. He came home and I slept all day, sort of. I finally went in the evening to get a flu test done and checked out and it was positive. So I guess now I just wait it out. Today is much better, which I just attribute to God since I knew Joe had to go into work today so I got Owen off to school, thanks to my friend Shannon who took him, and Josie down for a nap and Maggie is no trouble at all. I was supposed to take her to see a play at the Derby Dinner theater today so I am sad we didn't get to go do that. But she had no idea about it so she doesn't know she missed out. Well, I am going to rest a little before my wild man gets home from school!
