The kids were sooo excited about the airplane ride. Owen was positive that Joe was going to be flying the plane. I guess since Joe travels quite a bit Owen has always thought he just had a plane he hopped on and flew to Mexico. :) I wasn't worried at all about the flight with Maggie and Owen since they are great travelers but had no clue what to expect from Josie. The flight was only about 2 hours with one stop (no plane changes though).
Maggie and Owen loved the taking off, and Josie enjoyed looking out the windows.
Josie did very well other than going back and forth between Joe and I. I was thinking that this was the age of Owen when I flew home from Germany alone with the 2 of them and must say Owen was MUCH calmer at this age. :) Josie would be exhausting after an 18 hour flight across the world! Joe refered to her as a slinkey on the plane, which is about how she was....but she didn't cry at all so we could deal with her figity body.
Here is Maggie as we were waiting to board the plane.
We had our own little photo shoot at the airport.
And here is Owen boarding the plane.
He looked so darn cute with his backpack walking through the airport.
We arrived in Orlando about 9 or so with more luggage than 5 people should ever travel with!
Owen found this Spiderman on the wall and wanted his picture with it.
We packed ourselves and luggage in our rental car and before we were out of the airport property I looked back to see all 3 of them sound asleep.
Our "disney trip" didn't really start until Sunday so we spent the night at an Orlando Hilton and spent the day Saturday swimming there. The kids love the water so they had fun and loved having the pool to themselves. Owen loved putting his hands up and acting like he was a shark that day. So I have numerous pictures just like this.
That evening we went to Downtown Disney to look around and it was really neat. They have a lego area where there are lots of things made from legos....including this dragon.
I was pretty impressed. Owen liked this area as they had stations where you could build things with legos. We rented a boat to take out on the lake there which was fun. Josie was not a fan of the lifejacket but when we tried to take it off they came and informed us she had to wear it. Owen and Maggie thought it was fun and Joe let each of them drive the boat as well.....until they once again came out and told us that children are not to drive the boats, even on the parents laps. So within 45 minutes we got in trouble twice. Here are the pictures from our boat trip....
Sunday morning I woke up at 7 and headed over to Disney to check in to our resort and get our tickets/meal passes. I then went back to the hotel and we all got up and ready to go. We all matched (of course) and even Joe joined in with our red/white theme! I was pretty shocked.....he didn't even complain about how goofy it was. haha.....but how cute do we look!
When we got there the kids were soo cute. They both had maps and were saying what they wanted to do first. We headed to the tea cups to start off our day which we all rode.
Joe got to spinning really fast which all the kids liked....even Josie. After that it was off to Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Maggie is our roller coaster rider. She loved every ride and rode everything she was tall enough for at the parks. That means there was only 1 roller coaster she couldn't ride (Aerosmith at MGM) Owen will ride ANYTHING once. He also rode everything at the parks he was tall enough for....which meant just 2 rides he couldn't ride. Like I said, Maggie couldn't get enough of the roller coasters, the faster the better. Owen enjoyed the fast part....but it seems every ride at Disney entails a "dark and spooky" story line first that you have to go through and Owen is not fond of dark or spooky. So although he loved the hills and thrills of rides such as splash mountain. He didn't care to pass up his fast pass to Maggie and let her ride another time. Josie took in all the fun of Disney about the first 45 minutes we were there. As Joe and the kids were getting off of Big Thunder Mountain here is what Josie looked like.....
She slept for more than half of our Disney trip I think (which you will see from pictures) We had fun all day riding rides and seeing shows. After lunch mom and dad arrived and met up with us at the park. The kids were so happy to have MiMi and Jaja at Disney with them, as were Joe and I. We headed to the Buzz lightyear ride which began the on going fight of who got to ride with MiMi.
Maggie won out on this ride.
The kids really liked all the 3-D shows and everytime Owen would put his glasses on upside down.
It's like his shoes....they always go on the wrong feet???? Josie loved "It's a small world" and it was a nice break from walking for us adults.
We had great weather all week. It was in the high 70's low 80's so it was not unbearable at all. (Our last day there it got in the high 80's and we were very thankful it hadn't been that hot all week) Even so, the kids loved cooling down in the splash parks they had.
Josie and Owen thought this was the greatest thing.....Maggie would have been all about it had she had on her swim suit but she is like me, not one to enjoy getting wet in her clothes that she has to wear the rest of the day. Josie was so cute though, she would bend down to see where the water was coming from and it would sqirt her right in the face and she'd laugh and get this confused look everytime.
I had made dinner reservations with Cinderella and the prince for Sunday evening. But the kids were having so much fun that we let them choose what they wanted to do and they chose to skip dinner and stay at the park. Maggie liked this idea since I told her we would get to meet the princesses' at the park too. (and she doesn't eat anyhow so the food didn't matter to her) So we grabbed a quick snack and she and I headed over to the toon town to meet the princesses. We didn't have to wait very long at all and she thought this was so great.
She got very un-maggie like and almost was shy towards them. After that it was more roller coasters and face painting....which was Owen's favorite thing all week I think.
He kept telling me people thoguht he was a real Tiger and were scared of him.
We watched the light parade which was really neat. Josie didn't move the entire time...she really liked all the parades. After that it was about 10 and Owen and Josie had reached their limit and were both about passed out. So Joe and Dad headed back to the resort with the little ones while Mom, Maggie and I stayed to watch the fireworks. Here are mom and Maggie sporting their Mickey ears while waitng.
The fireworks were awesome and I tried out my "fireworks" setting on my camera and got some neat shots.
After the show we also headed back to get some sleep since we had a breakfast reservation at 8 am at Animal Kingdom the next day. So our first full day was full of fun and everyone slept great that night. More to come....

Love the pics, it looks like you all had a wonderful time. Sorry we didn't get to meet up with you there. Carlyn is perplexed why Maggie got to meet Belle in her fancy yellow dress and we always met her in her less glamorous blue frock and apron!
Kirsten :)
