Friday was our day to go to Animal Kingdom. Now being the non animal lover that I am, and Joe too, you would think we would have no desire to go to Animal Kingdom....but it really has alot more to do there than look at animals. In fact, the only animals we saw there were on the safari. They have a breakfast there that is great. You get to see all the characters, plus the food is delish....which is saying something for a disney meal in our opinoin.
I had booked our breakfast at the Tuskar House for early that morning so that we could eat there and get in the park beore it even opened. Mom and Dad kept Emmie Jayne back at the resort for the day so joe and I could take the older 3. We ate breakfast and got a few pictures with some characters as they came around.
We had pretty much no waiting in lines all day, here are the girls waiting to get on the safari ride acting silly. they had just seen a picture with women looking like this.
One of Maggie's favroite roller coasters is here,Expedition Everest.
Owen was tall enough to ride this year. Joe took them on it first and than I rode a second time with them. It is really fun and huge....Owen liked it which surprised me a little as it is pretty intense. Josie didn't ride it but wanted in the picture in front of it with them....
While Joe had Maggie and Owen off riding big rides, I took Josie to the dinosaur diggin area.
She loved this area and played in the dirt (gravel) for a long time.
After breakfast we went and rode the white water rapids ride. We figured if we were going to get wet we may as well get it over with right off the bat. None of us actually got very wet this time though. After that we rode the safari.....if you go on the ride early in the morning you see alot more of the animals since it's not so hot out and we saw pretty much everything.
The kids loved the hippos and especially being so close to the giraffes.
We were walking along a path and saw a meet and greet with winnie the pooh and friends with no wait so we headed over there to see them. Owen is a "closet" winnie the pooh lover.
At this point I was cracking up at Joe. We are amused by the amount of adults who gush over characters and stand in lines to get pictures with them. So there was a young couple, looked early 20's, ahead of us. They were totally normal looking...like an average cool couple. Well the guy nearly knocked over a few toddlers to run up and embrace Tigger....than proceeds to say how much he loves him and wanted his pic and autograph. Joe had a total look of disgust on his face and looks at me and says, "seriously, who acts that way over a person dressed up!! Does he not realize that is just another guy in there!!" I was cracking up while trying to tell him to hush.
Animal Kingdom has some pretty great shows. My favorite is Nemo which was incredible....plus a nice cool place to sit and rest a bit. A bugs life is also fun...a little intense at parts, but fun.
Here we are waiting under the big tree getting ready to go into that show with 3-D glasses on.
Mom and Dad took Emmie Jayne over to Downtown Disney for the day and shopped around. She also got her first taste (or many tastes I am sure) of a Godiva chocolate sundae. So needless to say I am sure she didn't miss me much.
This park closes at 5 so we were out early and went out for dinner in Orlando, than came back to get our stuff packed up and ready to head back home the next day. Saturday morning we let the kids swim a few hours before going to the airport.
We had a wonderful time, although the next time I think we should do Disney first and the beach second as you need a relaxing vacation after doing Disney!
